Arsenal renewal
Time for new stories in the museum. And in order to tell those stories properly, a number of objects in our museum made way for new collection items. We start in the Arsenal, what new objects can you admire there?
Exchange of objects
In the Arsenal, a number of aircraft and vehicles made way for new objects including, yes: the Chinook!
Phase one of our ‘museum update’ is as good as completed. We have completed the major operation involving changing vehicles and aircraft. But we’re not there yet. The rest of the museum will be tackled in phase two, which will take place in October/November 2024. More information about this will follow soon.
The Marechaussee will have a new presentation in the renovated Arsenal. Read more (in Dutch).
Phase 2
Eras 1 and 2 and the Marechaussee Cabinet
Starting Monday, November 4, 2024, we will begin the renovation of the rooms of eras 1 and 2, as well as the new layout of the Marechaussee Cabinet. During the renovation, these spaces will be temporarily closed, and you will be redirected via an alternative route through the museum.
Next to this, you can get a preview of how the renovated spaces will look. We are doing our best to have the renewed eras ready for display during the Christmas holidays. This will mark the completion of phase 2 of the Arsenaal’s renovation, an important step in telling the military story of the Netherlands.
The Marechaussee Cabinet will be open to visitors from January 17, 2025.
What has changed?
The Chinook can now be admired in our museum. In addition to this acquisition, a number of objects also changed location and objects were moved to the depot. This new format allows us to tell our stories to you even better.

Objects that are not included in this overview and were previously in the museum are still there (in the same place).
